Locanda del Ghetto
A kosher hotel in the center of the Jewish ghetto in Venice, right below the Italian Synagogue. Breakfast is served at the hotel, which also includes kosher groceries.
The rooms are air-conditioned and there is also WIFI (for a fee). An excellent location for those who observe Mitzvot, near synagogues and kosher shops.
Suitable for Shabbat Observant: regular mechanical key, leaving constant lights on on Shabbat, very close to the Chabad house.

Excellent vacation apartment in Venice, a minute away from the restaurant “Gham Gham” Hachshara, 5 minutes walk from the Chabad house.
The apartment is in an excellent location in the center of Venice, spacious and air-conditioned and has 3 bedrooms. There is a balcony with a great view of the canals. The kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator, oven, stove, electric kettle and even a coffee machine. There is also a washing machine.
Hotel Amadeus
A very good 4-star hotel. It is a 5-minute walk from the train station (important! There are no taxis in Venice and you have to carry your luggage in your hands), and close to the Jewish ghetto. The room doors have regular keys for Shabbat.

A very good hotel in the center of Venice, close to the Jewish ghetto, Chabad and kosher restaurants.

Porta Orientalis Venice
An excellent and modern hotel in the Jewish quarter of Venice. Built around a beautiful inner courtyard and garden where breakfast is served. A view of the canals. Air-conditioned and clean rooms with wireless internet. Kind and helpful staff.
Suitable for Shabbat Observers: includes a regular key and the opening of the electronic door at the entrance for guests on Shabbat.
Ca’ Degli Antichi Giardini Apartments
An excellent apartment hotel in Venice, just a few minutes’ walk from the Chabad house and the kosher restaurants.
The apartments have a modern design, are clean and air-conditioned, suitable for up to 5 people in the apartment. They include a kitchen equipped with everything you need to prepare meals, including even a coffee machine. Some with a balcony.
Suitable for Shabbat Observant: a regular mechanical key for both the apartment and the building. It’s important to ask for a key to the back entrance to the building, where there are no light sensors.
Alberghiera Venezia
An apartment hotel 5 minutes’ walk from the Jewish ghetto. Offers air-conditioned rooms and apartments, some overlooking the canal. Santa Lucia Train Station is a 9-minute walk away. The apartments include a fully equipped kitchenette with a microwave and a washing machine.
Appartamento Corte Zappa
A lovely and clean apartment 2 minutes away from the Chabad house and the kosher shops in the ghetto. The apartment has a fully equipped kitchen (great for kosher observant) and is suitable for a couple + a child or two.
Guglie Design Apartments
accommodation apartments in the center of Venice, about a 20-minute walk from the Chabad House and a quarter of an hour from the Chasham Restaurant.The apartments are air-conditioned and renovated, and include a kitchen with a refrigerator, stove, microwave and electric kettle. There is also a washing machine.
Suitable for Shabbat Observers: the entrance key to the apartments is regular (mechanical-manual) and there are no sensors. It is within reasonable walking distance of the synagogue, the Chabad house and the kosher restaurants.
Kosher Food in Venice
- GAM GAM Restaurant – a meat restaurant owned by the Chabad House in Venice. The restaurant is in an excellent location in the center of the Jewish area on the edge of the canal and the food served there is excellent. Opening hours: Sunday-Thursday 12:00 – 22:00, Friday 12:00 – two hours before Saturday Address: 1122 Ghetto Vecchio, Venice Kosher: Mehdrin, Pet Israel.
- GAM GAM goodies – a few steps away from GAM GAM is the bakery/dairy store, offering coffee, pastries, pizza, breakfast, sandwiches, wine and more. Opening hours: Sunday-Thursday 12:00 – 22:00, Friday 12:00 – two hours before Saturday. Address: Cannaregio, 2873/c, 30121 Venezia. Kosher: Mehadrin, Fat Yisrael, Halab Yisrael.
- Ghimel Garden Restaurant – Pardes Rimonim Kosher Hotel has an Italian dairy restaurant. Kosher: under the supervision of the chief rabbi of Venice.
Shabbat in Venice
Venice is one of the few cities in the world (outside of Israel, of course) that offers an elegant mix on Shabbat. This fact is an attractive factor for observant travelers who choose to come to Venice for Shabbat. It is very convenient to spend Shabbat in Venice, it offers a selection of synagogues for prayer and various options for kosher Shabbat meals and as mentioned, it has a mix that encompasses significant parts of the city.
Chabad House Venice currently offers three options for Shabbat meals to choose from:
- Shabbat meals at the restaurant also – three meals at a reserved table with a rich and luxurious menu. By pre-order only. Price: 126 euros per person.
- Shabbat meals in the gallery – three meals at a reserved table. By pre-order only. Price: 90 euros per person, 50 euros for a child under 12 years old.
- Shabbat meals at the Chabad synagogue – kiddush, challah and a light meal on Friday evening and Saturday morning. No need to book in advance. It is acceptable to give a donation after Shabbat.
At the GAM GAM restaurant there is an option to light Shabbat candles.
